PARTICIPATION IN THE 5th INDIE-SIYENSYA FILMMAKING COMPETITION
The Science Education Institute (SEI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will conduct the Indie-Siyensya, a Science Filmmaking Competition, which aims to develop science culture among the youth and to increase awareness of the importance of science and technology for national development.
For its 5th year, it focuses on sparking the creativity of students, young filmmakers, scientists, and researchers in the country in communicating scientific concepts using film as a medium. This will enable young filmmakers and scientists to hone their skills in documenting and communicating science, and to challenge them to think of new ideas to present scientific concepts and inspire the youth to consider Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses as their field of study.
This year’s theme: “The Scientist in Me,” aims to challenge the students to produce an engaging video on STEM, and to document and conduct their own experiments and observations while learning at home.
