Face-to-face graduation not allowed – DepEd

On a statement made by the Department of Education (DepEd), they stated that face-to-face graduation and moving up rites for the School Year 2020-2021scheduled within the week of July 12 to 16, 2021 will not be allowed.

DepEd’s commitment to protect the health and welfare of learners, teachers, personnel, and parents, was what led to this decision.

Instead, schools and community learning centers (CLC’s) are encouraged to hold a virtual program for 2 hours, keeping in mind the amount of mobile data that will be consumed and the internet connectivity of involved learners.

DepEd also reminded schools to secure the consent of the parents and learners if such broadcast will be publicly accessible, in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

The Department of Education stated, “should the public health situation prevent the conduct of the EOSY rites within the said week, schools can also opt to reschedule or forego the activity, in consultation with the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA).”

Private schools, meanwhile, shall be guided by their approved school calendars in conducting the activity.
