“DepEd may realign its funds for other programs and projects for blended learning,” DepEd Undersecretary Anne Sevilla said.

She added, schools may also use remaining balance for maintenance and other operating expenses or MOOE budget for blended learning.

DepEd gave clarity to the issue concerning budgets for blended learning after Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla voiced out his concerns.

Earlier, it could be recalled that Remulla wrote a letter to DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones to give attention to the lack of funds for the blended learning. The province of Cavite somehow needed P5 billion for its 600,000 learners.

Blended learning is the governments’ solution to the problem of education caused by the pandemic. Under the said program, learners will use printed module, online instruction, radio and television to continue their education.
